What is a Home Birth unit? The PMC Home Birth unit is designed specifically to fulfill the wishes of those mothers and families who value the atmosphere and comfort of home during labor and delivery, all while having access to high quality medical care and state-of-the-art equipment in case of medical necessity.

Home Birth Program

With OBGYNs from groups 1-4

  1. Patient examination in the admissions unit by OBGYN on-call upon arrival to PMC for labor.
  2. Hospitalization of Patient with signs of early labor for in-patient observation in pre-delivery room (on a once-only basis; for no longer than 12 hours).
  3. Management of spontaneous vaginal single births performed by a medical team consisting of:
    • OBGYN;
    • Neonatologist (Pediatrician);
    • OR nurse (in case of medical necessity);
    • Midwife on-call (personal midwife care available having a signed supplemental agreement for the service “Individual Paramedical Midwifery care”).
  4. In case of medical necessity, in-patient medical care up to 3 hours after delivery performed in a private birthing room.
  5. In case of medical necessity, in-patient medical care in the Intensive-Care Unit of the Anesthesiology and Reanimation department, up to 12 hours.
  6. In case of medical necessity, in-patient lab and functional testing, except molecular diagnostics, radiology diagnostic (CT, MRI, X-ray).
  7. In case of medical necessity, infant resuscitation in the birthing room. In this case the medical team includes a resuscitator.
  8. In-patient medical care for Patient in a private room in one of the physiological departments or the observation department up to 1 day of hospital stay after spontaneous delivery. In-patient medical care shall include: Patient examinations by PMC OBGYNs and other medical specialists upon medical necessity; lab and functional testing, in case of medical necessity, except molecular diagnostics, radiology diagnostic (CT, MRI, X-ray); drug treatment, except medical services indicated in Addendum #2 to the Labor & Delivery Contract; breastfeeding support provided by a postpartum unit midwife.
  9. In-patient medical care for newborn in one of the physiological departments or the observation department up to 1 day of hospital stay after spontaneous delivery. In-patient medical care shall include: newborn care; examinations by PMC neonatologists (pediatricians) and other medical specialists upon medical necessity; lab and functional testing, in case of medical necessity, except molecular diagnostics, radiology diagnostic (CT, MRI, X-ray); drug treatment, except medical services indicated in Addendum #2 to the Labor & Delivery Contract; Hep B vaccination (in absence of counter-indications and with the Patient’s consent).
  10. Out-patient examination by an OBGYN and conduction of pelvic organs Ultrasound within 56 days after delivery.
